Miller’s Planet giant waves

Interstellar / Svínafellsjökull

Miller’s Planet Giant Waves

Cooper, Brand, and Doyle land on Miller’s Planet, a world covered in shallow water, with Romilly remaining on the Endurance. The team is searching for the previous explorer, Dr. Miller. As they walk through the water, they see wreckage from Miller’s expedition. The sky is gray and overcast, creating a tense atmosphere. Suddenly, Brand notices a large wave approaching. Cooper shouts for everyone to get back to the ship. The wave towers over them as they rush to escape, highlighting the planet’s dangerous, unpredictable nature.

Brand struggles to reach the ship in time as the wave looms closer. Doyle attempts to help her but is swept away by the water. Cooper, showing urgency, manages to get Brand into the ship just before the wave hits. The wave crashes over their landing craft, causing damage and delay. They realize that the planet’s gravity and proximity to a black hole have caused severe time dilation, which means many years have passed on Earth while only minutes have elapsed on the planet. This revelation adds to the emotional weight of their mission, emphasizing the cost of their journey.
